Warren Buffet appropriate quote of the day...
“Be Fearful When Others Are Greedy and Greedy When Others Are Fearful”
I'm not sure if that is a real quote from buffet or not. Either way I believe it applies to the markets this week.
I admit that I am new to investing but do the markets generally react to natural disasters in this way? I mean almost everything was in the red today. can we conclude that it was all due to the tsunami or is it just time for a "market correction" that I keep hearing about?
Now I don't mean to down play the tragic event in Japan. I have watched alot of video footage and it is humbling and makes me appreciate the simple things I normally take for granted.
I think this week may provide a good entry point into any stock you had your eye on for awhile now but have been sitting on the sideline.
Is this logical thinking or am I off on this call?

I agree, but something to consider is that Japan is the worlds third largest economy and a slow down here will have ripple down effects elsewhere, and they will be a long time coming out of this. I'm all in right now, so I cant buy anything... but if I could, I sure would be adding to my existing positions.

For sure, there is a short term over-reaction, but part of the problem is timing. Will this crisis negatively impact anything over a 30 year time frame, probably not. Question is: do you want to sit in a stock that will be stalled for 6 months to a year or more to find out.
In the case of Uranium, I think the reaction has been pretty extreme, since the entire concept of nuclear power is now being challenged in the meadia and governments actually seem to be putting projects on hold that were previously factored into the growth of Uranum demand. I think over the long term, as Fred says, there is no realistic alternative, and the world still needs power. As long as the Japanese nuclear plant doesn't meltdown completely. If it does meltdown, that could be a game changing catalyst.
I bought a little Encana, Sunlife, and Cameco yesterday. I sold Cameco for a small but quick intraday profit, and waiting for it to decline some more.
